Digital Citizenship

Today we were lucky to have Amy pop in to talk to some of us about digital citizenship. We talked about how important it is for us to be careful about what information we give to people online. Check out the link on our Learning Common 2 site to find out more about what digital citizenship is all about.

Luke playing the djemba drum.

This is Luke's cultural artefact from home. It's a djemba drum from South Africa. When it's played it's a call to gather together with peace. We like this idea.

The Frog And The Lizard Cave by Lewis

Not too long and not too far ago there lived a frog. He was just walking along when he spotted a cave. It was dark and frightening. He tried to mind his own business when a joke came from it. He tried not to laugh but laughs burst from him because it was such a good joke.

A bunch of other laughs came from the cave then a big boulder with a hole in it rolled in front of the cave. A lizards head popped up. It said "what's the password?" The frog said "lizards only?" It said "no." The frog said "lizards rock?" The lizard said "not even close." The frog sighed "I give up." The lizard said "ok I will tell you why didn't the skeleton cross the road? Because he didn't have the guts to! Ha ha ha hoo hoo hoo!"

The frog laughed so hard that he couldn't stop. Then the lizard said "you can come in." So he spent his day in the cave laughing. That made the lizards his friends. The end.

The Castle On The Hill by Luke

Once in a far away land there was a castle on a hill. This hill made joy to the village next to the castle. But the house closest to the castle had a preposterous man in it. This man tried to steel the crown jewels every day. Today he tried something different but as always he failed.

It was a sunny day in the village. The army was getting ready to take off. The villagers had no idea that the army was surprising the princess for her birthday she forgot all about her birthday. And she nearly forgot about the invitations for her friends. While she was asleep the villagers were getting ready to party. So when she woke up everyone acted like they forgot about it. She started to sigh then started to make the cards as she cried. When she got out of the castle she got suprised!!!!!!!!

They shouted happy birthday so you didn't forget as she opened the door. And they all settled down on the couch.

Alice In Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland

Yesterday HPPS went to HPSS to watch Alice in Wonderland.  I know that we could just watch it from our TV but this was actually a show from the students.   Alice was sooooooooooooooo good at acting.  The Queen of Hearts was a little mean but I liked her too.  The Mad Hatter was sooooooooooooooo crazy, just like me.  I liked it because it was fun and the people were good at acting.

Our awesome day :)

We had an awesome day today in LC2, we were lucky to have our Japanese friends join us for student led workshops and also Freya's Opa. The workshops on offer today were I Can Animate, making christmas decorations and paper snowflakes, lava lamps, drawing people and floorplans, playing tennis and tap and gap and making a gingerbread house. We were super proud of our children and the way they communicated instructions and initiated conversations with our Japanese friends. It made us think about how we communicate effectively to people who english isn't a first language for. Ka mau te wehi!!!

Issy's writing inspired by the Google Expedition

One hot, sunny day there were two science girls that wanted to go snorkelling.

So they went snorkelling. They asked their uncle if they could use his boat and shark cage and stuff like that.

They put their togs on and dived into the shark cage. A few seconds later they saw a BIG!!! shark. They were really cool and AMAZING!!!
